The William Tanner House Museum, built in 1857, is an excellent example of mid-19th century Italianate-style architecture, with features like highly emphasized weight-bearing corbels, a low-pitched roof and a mock-tower structure. Built by wealthy merchant William Tanner, the historic home is furnished with period-appropriate items, giving visitors a look at the life of an affluent family in the 1800s. The structure is located less than a mile northwest of Stolp Island, which contains attractions like the David L. Pierce Art & History Center and the SciTech Hands-On Museum.
